Chinese Calligraphy

The written Chinese history is a written history of Chinese calligraphy. By learning Chinese calligraphy one can inherit the fine traditions of Chinese culture. The practice of writing the strokes helps the students to appreciate the artistic style of Chinese calligraphy and at the same time calms the mind and therefore achieving serenity and improvement in health.

The Chinese calligraphy class is one of the youngest interest groups at Manningham Senior Club. It was established in 2005 under the guidance of Mr. Deng Yim. In July 2007, Mr Zheng was invited to teach Chinese calligraphy to the group. The participation of both the teacher and the students ensures the advancement of both parties.

Mr Zheng's teaching approach is: " To learn to write the characters in pen first and then in brush afterwards." This approach helps the students to progress steadily and to achieve serenity of the mind and the goal of writing stylistically. Mr Zheng also encourages the display of calligraphy of well written words both in class and on notice board. By doing that, students are driven by the urge to excel and so achieving a higher level. Mr Zheng hopes the students would concur with his view and help build a prosperous Chinese calligraphy class.
